Deputy Grassroots Director

The Deputy Grassroots Director will work to build grassroots activities through phone banking, door to door canvassing, and neighborhood events while reporting to the Grassroots Director. The Deputy Grassroots Director will assist Field Directors to organize, recruit, and engage volunteers to become active within their local community. This position will work directly with the Deputy State Director and Grassroots Director to produce and implement strategy. The ideal candidate will have a background in grassroots advocacy and strong managerial skills. The position requires attending community meetings and outreach events on evenings and weekends.


• Along with the Grassroots Director, help Manage day-to-day activities and projects of field staff in Florida
• Build grassroots relations for the state chapter with political, business, media and community leaders
• Plan and organize events as well as attend third party events
• Utilize activists to become involved in volunteer phone banking, door to door canvassing, and neighborhood events on state-based policy initiatives
• Represent the organization by attending and speaking at local grassroots events for recruitment and education purposes
• Organize and plan state and local educational rallies and other grassroots events, including the phone bank setup process and door to door canvassing
• Work closely with state leadership and HR to document and address employee relations issues
• Review and approve timecards and expense reports to insure accuracy and compliance
• Manage and approve budgets for field staff
• Ability to be highly productive in a home office and/or remote environment


• Experience with grassroots operations and/or event planning preferable
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral
• Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with state and national staff, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, environment
• Willingness to perform all duties as listed and any other duties assigned
• Willingness to travel for day and overnight trips in and out of state
• Proven ability to work remotely and in an office environment
• Competency with the Microsoft Office Suite
• Integrity, humility, and an entrepreneurial attitude
• A positive attitude and an earnest interest in providing good customer service to our members, partners, and all state chapters

• Must have a valid driver’s license
